French Fashion University celebrates ‘Chandeleur’

French Fashion University Esmod International (FFUEI), the Dubai campus of the French fashion institution, has celebrated the French ‘Chandeleur' festival by hosting an exclusive fashion show, held on February 19, 2007, at the University's Academic City Campus.
The invitation-only event, organised by FFUEI in association with Dubai's French Association, attracted a sizeable portion of Dubai's French community who viewed fashion creations with a ‘Chandeleur' theme by students of the University. The Chandeleur festival, historically a fête held in February, has been celebrated by the French for hundreds of years by feasting on crepes.
In October 2006, Esmod opened its Dubai-based French Fashion University, directed at tapping into the region's booming fashion industry and the growing demand by Middle Eastern consumers for haute couture. Founded in Paris in 1841 by Frenchman Alexis Lavigne, Esmod has since opened schools in 20 countries and trained generations of professionals who have worked for stylists such as Dior, Yves Saint-Laurent, Kenzo, Paco Rabanne, Gaultier and Givenchy. The University has recently started taking admissions for public courses, offering master-classes in trend forecasting and fashion media communication, in addition to a six month fashion workshop. The courses will explore pertinent issues in fashion education through flexible afternoon or evening classes lasting eight weeks.FFUEI also offers a range of creative, technical and marketing programs for students wishing to become actors of the growing fashion industry in the region. Various courses are taught by the French-trained instructors, including a three-year full time bachelor's course, a two-year part time diploma and a short certificate
course.
